i was at home and decided to go thru stuffs that i shot when i was in china 2 months ago. This is a series of pics i took while i was at Lan Zhou. I got onto a bus from Lan Zhou city and travelled about 1.5hrs to this place called "Yu Zhong Xian Cheng" - supposedly some small town away from the main city. There i asked a shopkeeper for directions to a mountain. The lady got me a little taxi van and he said he'll bring me there for 30rmb. i decided why not and hopped in.
What i had in mind was a view of China's vast mountain ranges and beautiful lakes and scenary and fishermen and farmers tending to their crops.
15 mins later we arrived at the foot of the mountain which appeared to be a forsaken looking resort which Chinese visitors will probably throng on during the holiday seasons. I asked my driver Mr Bai, why was it so empty and he said that it's not the holiday season yet. I looked highly dissappointed with the place and then asked him if i could find any farms and small villages nearby. He told me there was a place behind the mountain and he would take me there for a small fee. hell, why not.
another 15mins later, i was greeted with exactly what i wanted to see. The great old rural china. bullocks and cow crap all over the place. Since this was a rural area in China, they spoke a different type of Mandarin. My driver became my translater and really helped me with getting friendly with the locals. The people were curious, but became pretty friendly after i gave some polaroids of themselves. Here is the short series from the 'other' camera

Very nice capture of the people there. Love all the series. Wish I have the time and opportunity like you to go overseas to take pictures.
